The Chelsea captain declared that his team is returning into the Champions League with complete belief in their capability to battle with the planet's elite.

Young Side Faces Tough Challenge at Bayern's Home

He referenced the recent worldwide title as proof that Chelsea stand as real threats to win the Champions League.

"We're just beginning," stated the right-back. "I have no doubts in this club’s potential to challenge with top-tier opponents in Europe and the world. Our approach is week by week and assess our progress when the season closes."

"I don't view it as a bad thing. Last season we qualified in the Champions League and won two trophies. We have progressed."

"I didn’t see it coming," he commented. "I believe the player sought a move and Chelsea agreed. I’m not sure the full story, yet he remains a top professional."

Maresca suggested that Jackson could offer Munich tips about Chelsea's approach. "There's possibly a small edge since he knows how we work, how we plan," commented the Chelsea boss. "He was with the past campaign with us, so he understands our tactics."

He dismissed any suggestions of a fallout with Jackson. "I didn't experience any problem with him, and that hasn't changed," he stated. "He is a hard worker, focused, and always trained well at the club."

He expects that Cole Palmer will be fit to play following recovery from a groin issue.
